A high-density styling gel with extra-strong hold, developed to deliver pronounced, long-lasting definition for afro-textured hair, including Type 4C.

Key Benefits

Reverse Elongation Technology

Define your hair on wet hair for a more compact curl pattern, or on dry, previously stretched hair for greater visible elongation—with frizz control, humectants and conditioning proteins.

Crystal Lumen by KÁRITI EVO® provides pronounced definition and extra-strong hold. Choose the application method according to your preferred finish: wet application for more compact curls, or dry, stretched application to help preserve the length achieved through prior stretching.

The dry, stretched method is especially recommended for 4C hair when greater visible length and less drying time after gel application are priorities. Wet application is also an option for 4C hair, as well as 3C, 4A and 4B textures and customers with low porosity.

What does Crystal Lumen do for my hair?

  • Provides definition and extra-strong hold.

  • Helps maintain the hairstyle’s shape and control frizz.

  • Supports a visually elongated finish when applied to previously stretched hair.

  • Allows wet styling for a more compact curl pattern.

  • Combines humectants and conditioning ingredients to improve softness and manageability.

  • Can be used within a styling routine that does not require a hairdryer.

Why does it combine moisture, conditioning and hold?

Tightly coiled hair can experience friction, tangling and difficulty distributing products evenly. When the hair also has high porosity, its surface may feel rough and need additional conditioning.

Crystal Lumen combines ingredients that help maintain moisture, improve hair feel and form a film over the fibre. Preparing the hair first makes it easier to work through each section without relying solely on the gel for detangling and conditioning.

4C texture and porosity are different characteristics: adapt the application method to your hair’s condition, needs and preferred finish.

How do I use it for greater elongation on dry, stretched hair?

  1. Wash the hair.

  2. Apply the curl-activating mist if conditioning is needed, then detangle. Alternatively, use a small amount of a lightweight oil or emollient, such as Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride—a coconut-derived emollient—or olive-derived squalane, for softness and shine during preparation.

  3. Create natural braids without extensions or excessive tension.

  4. Allow the hair to dry completely in the braids.

  5. Undo the braids and divide the dry, stretched hair into small sections.

  6. Apply Crystal Lumen gradually and define each section.

  7. Allow the hair to air-dry, avoiding manipulation while the definition sets.

For this elongation method, do not soak the hair again before applying the gel. The curl-activating mist is optional; the complete brand routine is not compulsory.

How do I use it if my hair is already prepared?

If your hair is already clean, conditioned, completely dry and stretched, you can skip the preparation braids.

Apply Crystal Lumen gradually in small sections and define according to your preferred style.

What are the preparation braids for?

They hold the hair in a stretched position while it dries. Once undone, they allow you to begin defining with a more extended length, without needing heat.

They are preparation for the dry, stretched method—not a requirement for every use of Crystal Lumen.

Do I have to use oil or the curl-activating mist?

No. Use additional conditioning only if your hair needs it.

The curl-activating mist is one option. A small amount of Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride or olive-derived squalane is another option for softness and shine during preparation.

Use small amounts and avoid overloading the hair.

Can I apply Crystal Lumen to wet hair?

Yes. Crystal Lumen can be used on wet or dry hair.

For wet application, distribute a small amount through clean, detangled hair in sections, define and allow to dry completely. No preparation braids are required.

Wet application is an option for 3C, 4A and 4B textures, customers with low porosity, and 4C customers who prefer a more compact curl pattern rather than maximum visible elongation.

What changes between wet and dry application?

On wet hair: the brand’s experience is that application generally requires less product and gives a conditioned finish with a more compact curl pattern, greater shrinkage and less visible elongation. Drying can take longer. Definition can also be long-lasting.

On dry, previously stretched hair: the method supports greater visible elongation, less shrinkage and less drying time after gel application. Preparation still requires the hair to dry completely beforehand.

According to the brand’s experience, the dry, stretched method generally uses more product per styling session but can maintain the style for longer, reducing restyling frequency. The savings are in the days of wear, rather than less product per application.

Results, product quantities, drying times and style duration vary according to the hair and application.

Do I need a hairdryer?

No. For the dry, stretched method, you can prepare the hair using natural braids and allow it to air-dry completely before applying the gel.

Wet styling can also air-dry. Choose the drying method that suits your routine.

Is Crystal Lumen the choice for light definition?

Crystal Lumen is the choice for pronounced definition and extra-strong hold.

For light, soft definition with volume and movement, the first choice within the KÁRITI EVO® ritual is the curl-activating mist.
